Privacy Overview

FocusGuard is committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how our app works. This Privacy Policy explains the permissions we use, how your data is handled, and what information — if any — is shared with third parties. We believe in building trust through clarity.

Screen Time Management

FocusGuard monitors your app usage to provide detailed 'Screen Time' statistics and to enforce the app blocks you configure. This includes tracking how long each application is used during a given period, generating daily and weekly usage reports, and triggering scheduled or manual blocks when usage thresholds are exceeded.

Usage Stats Permission

We request access to the 'Usage Access' permission (also known as Usage Stats) to detect which applications are currently running in the foreground. This is essential for triggering app blocks in real time and providing accurate screen time analytics. Without this permission, FocusGuard cannot function as intended.

Accessibility Service

FocusGuard uses the Accessibility Service API solely to prevent users from bypassing app blocks and to detect when a restricted app is launched. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or screen content through this service. The Accessibility Service is used exclusively for enforcing your configured blocks and ensuring the effectiveness of the app's core functionality.

Local Data Processing

All block schedules, app lists, usage history, and configuration data are stored locally on your device. FocusGuard does not upload, sync, or transmit this data to any external server. Your usage data never leaves your phone, ensuring complete privacy and data sovereignty.

Monetization & Advertising

FocusGuard uses Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. AdMob may collect certain device information and use cookies or similar technologies to serve personalized or non-personalized ads based on your preferences.

We also implement the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain user consent for personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California) regulations.

No Account Required

FocusGuard functions entirely without a user account. There is no sign-up, login, or registration process. This means there is zero linkage between your identity and your app usage data. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.

Liability Disclaimer

FocusGuard is a productivity tool designed to help you manage your screen time. We are not responsible for missed notifications, calls, messages, or any productivity losses resulting from active blocks. Users are advised to configure their block schedules thoughtfully and to whitelist critical applications as needed.
